Abstract

This descriptive cross-sectional study investigated the prevalence and psychological impact of workplace violence (WPV) among 301 health professionals in Delta State (DELSUTH and FMC Asaba). The study found a prevalence rate of 50.5%, with significant under-reporting of incidents. Notably, 78.9% of those who experienced WPV suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Risk factors included age, sex, and years of experience. The authors recommend training programs and periodic psychological evaluations for staff who have been victims of violence.
